Put Your Best Foot Forward for a Christian Job

Many times in our lives, students or job seekers you will always hear that first impressions are the best impressions. Therefore we are always told to be on our best behavior, look our best and present ourselves and our talents in the best possible way when we go on a job hunt.

Christian jobs are just like any other job.  They require people with an interest and a commitment to doing their best. They also require people that are authentic and will not put on a show for the interview and later on disappoint the employers. This will quickly lead you to the door and out of a job that you may not only really need, but that you enjoy as well.

They require you to show your best during interviews as well as to perform well. But the question that most people will ask is how to get the fire and passion that you have inside out so that other people may see and feel that this is authentic and not a just a show?

How to get and  develop the enthusiasm and inner fire for the job position

Enthusiasm is the fire that keeps on burning without fuel.  To ensure that your application for jobs in the church is filled with more than just words, you will have to take some extra steps to put in some vital experience with your application. One of the best ways to do this is to go to the church or the Christian organization you are interested in. Visit the place, interact with some of the people, spend time in the premises so that you can relate with it in some way.  Attend a worship service and if possible, speak with some of the staff on hand.  If this is not possible, then study their website and research the Churches history.

Know who they are, what they stand for, and what they believe in.  Do they have the same beliefs as you?  If not, are you okay with that?

If you can show how your love for the job you are trying to get complements your Christian life, then you have a good chance of being understood, and a fair enough chance of getting the job. This is because many churches and Christian organizations offering jobs are first of all Christians and second of all, business men or woman.  Showing to them that you are first of all a Christian and second of all an employee is sure to land you better marks.  Importance and priority in this respect does matter.

It is common, especially in small Christian organizations, that your faith be visible in all you do.  If you have a Facebook page, ensure that it represents who you are as a Christian.  If you have references, old Pastors and other church leaders should be included.   Be assured that in today’s modern age, employers, including ministry employers, will delve into your background to see if you ‘walk the talk’.
